Mapping

For fixed transit routes, especially buses transporting passengers to trains and trolleys stations, it would be helpful to have a electronic trip planner similar to MapQuest or other programs outlining the entire journey e.g. bus numbers, departure/arrival times of each trip segment. Outlining "alternate" times/routes in the event that a connection is missed/unavailable/late would be helpful too. Bus to bus transitions... more »

Scheduling

As a paratransit rider, I travel to work using our paratransit system. In inclement weather, I travel both to work and my home using the paratransit system. However, I often find the time in travel and boarding times exponentially longer than if I went via train, bus, taxi. I usually board the system by the time I am given by the computer at least 2.5 hours early. I believe this is often to pick up other passengers that... more »

Electronic Systems to Access Transportation Leaves Some Out

Simply, total dependence on electronic systems for signing up for transportation options themselves cuts out those of us who do not have cellphones, iphones or other electronic access. I have a computer at work, but cannot afford any electronic access at home, as the machines cost more than I can spend. I have disabilities, and a lower-than-middle-class income, and I have three dependents. I get to walk or use regular... more »

Rural Transportation Options

Living in a very rural state, it is very difficult to access accessible transportation, especially outside of regular work hours. I feel there is a need to advocate for legal changes to require 24 hour accessible transportation in all counties of every state. This may be similar to how an Uber/Lift would work, but each county would have at least one accessible vehicle and someone available to drive these. This could... more »

More transit options using existing technology

Public-private partnerships with uber and lyft have the potential to increase transit options for people with disabilities in some areas. Uber has contracted a number of Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle's in the DC area. While there is always room for improvement, I think that expanding the options through existing means is the most efficient way to increase access to transportation.

First Mile, Last Mile for Rural Communities

I live in an area that bridges between rural landscape and a college city. Many residents that live on the outskirts of town experience the public transit first mile/last mile problem. This is where people live away from a 1/4 mile walking distance to a public transit stop. This impacts individuals ability to travel for daily needs (work, school, medical appointments). Those who are underserved, from low-income households... more »

Knowing when you paratransit vehicle will arrive saves time

If there were a vehicle tracking app so paratransit riders would know when to meet their driver, everyone would be more productive and everyone would save wasted time. Can’t Federal Transit Administration develop a generic app that paratransit services could adopt? Please?

Government Issued Cell Phones - Universal Transit App

Every government issued cell phone should come equipped with a universal transit app to lead the user to select the transit agency in their area/region.

This app can be username and password protected and come auto populated with the assigned user's information to assist with transportation planning and aids.
