Within the past year, it is great to see that Google Maps is beginning to add route filters for wheelchair accessibility for public transportation. Sometimes these routes add on unnecessary amounts of time when people that use assistive devices could avoid by using multiple modes of transportation, private sidewalks/streets, and informal shuttles. Encouraging trip-planning apps to expand their route planning options can help improve travel times for people that use assistive devices and provide trip planning apps with more accurate data on how people travel.
