States are charged in their Master Contracts with the FTA to perform oversight of their subrecipients transit programs. This includes accessible transit, accessible sidewalks, accessible bus stops and facilities among other things. I find, as a statewide advocate for people with disabilities that enforcement of the ADA and Title VI is lax to non-existent by states. Their subrecipients do no better with their contracted transit operators or partner agencies. Will the future be more waiting for COMPLETE ACCESS for all people? How would this panel address, envision and find means to increase enforcement of existing laws at the same time that you build new mobility innovations?
