I live in an area that bridges between rural landscape and a college city. Many residents that live on the outskirts of town experience the public transit first mile/last mile problem. This is where people live away from a 1/4 mile walking distance to a public transit stop. This impacts individuals ability to travel for daily needs (work, school, medical appointments). Those who are underserved, from low-income households or those with mobility limitations or disabilities may also experience more challenges with access to public transport or with the first mile/last mile issues. It would be helpful to have affordable mobile apps (such as Uber or Lyft) in these areas that can assist those with the first mile/last mile to access public transportation stops.
